What data do we collect?

Data for statistical reports:

We collect pseudonymized data for statistical reporting. This data includes technical information such as the IP address which you are using to connect to the internet, the operating system of your device, the language of your browser or the resolution of your screen.

Data for comments, reviews and ratings:

In case you leave a comment on our website we collect the name and email address you provided with your comment. We also collect personal data from reviews and ratings that you can create about us on external services such as Google Maps, Facebook and Yelp. This data covers the name you provided to the external service , your profile picture that you provided to the service, the date of the review, the number of stars of your rating (in case of Facebook if the rating was positive or negative) and the text of the review. This data gets transferred to our server and is stored in our database.

How do we collect your data?

Data for statistical reporting is collected via an open source tool called Open Web Analytics and stays on our servers only. It is collected when you visit our website. When you leave a comment on our website we additionally collect your name and email address with the form provided to enter the comment. Reviews about our store from Google Maps, Facebook or Yelp are collected automatically via their APIs.

How will we use your data?

We collect technical data in order to perform statistical reports and this data is analysed with Open Web Analytics on our servers only.

Personal data (name, email address) that you submit with comments will only be used to display the name you entered with your comment and to store your email address in our database. Your email address will not be displayed on the site, shared with others or used to send you any emails not related to the comment you submitted. Personal data and review data will be displayed on our site with your first-name that you provided to Google Maps, Facebook or Yelp and the date relative to the current day.

How can you opt-out from being tracked?

We accept your privacy and the “Do not Track” settings of your browser.

If you want to use our site without having your data collected for statistical purposes, please opt-out by turning your browsers “do not track (DNT)” settings on. Here you can find a guide for various mobile and desktop browsers and a general description of DNT.

How and where do we store your data? When do we delete it?

Storage of data for statistical reports:

Our company securely stores your collected technical data in anonymised form at our hosting provider Dreamhost outside the EU in the United States (near Portland, Oregon.) for statistical purposes (aka. tracking). The statistical data we collect is not being stored, transferred or provided to any other service or company than our hosting provider, inside our secure database to which only ourselves are having access to. Our company will keep the statistical data in aggregated form as long as the company exists.

All other data:

We are hosting all of our website data and the database itself on Dreamhost. Actually, they are pretty cool and put quite some effort to provide “green” hosting services. Your raw data (including your IP address) is stored at Dreamhost for 3 days, is protected from third party access and can be removed by us upon your request in that 3 days period. After that period your IP address is only stored in an aggregated, anonymised manner (last octet of IP is not being stored). You can avoid to have your IP address stored outside the EU at Dreamhost (which under certain conditions allows your personal identification by e.g. law enforcement) by using an anonymization service such as a proxy or VPN.  More information on how Dreamhost stores and handles personal data:

We are also using Cloudflare as a Content Delivery Network to make our Website load snappy on your end. Cloudflare caches our website (but not the tracking) and collects your IP address (using a one-way hash of certain values so they cannot be personally identified). Cloudflare also sets cookies in order to provide their caching / load balancing services to us. More Information on how Cloudflare handles your data and sets cookies can be found here:

Further personal data aside your IP address, is only collected and stored at Dreamhost if you create a comment on our site, write a review or leave a rating on us via Google Maps, Facebook, Yelp, or submitted a review to us via eMail which we included on our site. The data you provided will be stored as long as the comment, rating or review is displayed on our website. Once we close our company (hopefully never) we will also delete all of the data we collected. Once we remove your comment, review or rating from our website (e.g. upon your request), we will also delete all data that you submitted with your comment, review or rating.

GDPR / DSGVO compliant data storage and processing summary:

If you don’t want any of your data to be stored and processed outside the EU, use an EU based proxy or VPN, set your browser to “Do Not Track” , do not create reviews or ratings on Google, Facebook or Yelp and do not leave comments on our website. However, even if you do not use the above, our website is fully GDPR / DSGVO compliant.

How and when do reviews appear?

Reviews are taken from Google Maps, Facebook and Yelp. It can take more than 24 hours before reviews get included on our site (APIs are a bit slow), eMail reviews might take even longer (digital schweinehund).

We might reject and delete reviews without prior notice or providing a reason. We only display reviews that contain text (e.g.: no ratings without text and just stars).

If you want your review removed from our site, just let us know by email. Pleasse include the complete review text (so we know which one to delete) and your full name (so we know its yourself).

How is the overall rating calculated?

Reviews with ratings and ratings without text are combined and used to calculate the average number of stars shown under “reviews from our customers”. The overall average is rounded in 0,5 stars steps. It takes a while until new ratings and reviews are considered for the calculation, don’t expect it to happen in less than 24 hours.

We don’t like spam and don’t do eMail marketing

Nobody likes spam or unwanted advertising. We will not use data that you provide to us to send you information that you did not explicitly requested from us. Never. Not via eMail, postal service or phone calls. If we would, we would anyhow use a bike messenger, probably.
